Why you should use authentic vintage art in your home to create character and interest.

It is a great way to give an eclectic feel to your interiors. Propping up a vintage portrait in a kitchen is used by interior designers to generate a casual feel to art and a cozy feel to the room. Hang a vintage picture in your bathroom, put up a print in your children’s bedroom or rest an oil painting on a shelf. These all help to add character and interest to your home.

I’m a bit of a stickler when it comes to ‘fake’ vintage, for me a piece has to be genuinely vintage or it doesn’t have the same quality about it. Vintage art is a much more affordable way to bring interesting art into the home, mix it with contemporary prints in a gallery wall to add personality to a room. Don’t be afraid to put a vintage painting next to an Ikea framed print, mixing old and new pictures works.

Spend some time collecting your pieces and don’t be afraid to move your art around. Just because you’ve put a piece up somewhere doesn’t mean it has to stay there forever!
